Make Lenny's lunch

Start making your saladGrown-ups tell you that you should eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day to grow up healthy. Salad leaves are a great way to help you do this. Did you know that just one (80g) cereal bowl of salad leaves, counts as one portion?  There’s some delicious sweet leaves like Romaine and Lamb's Lettuce, and some crunchy ones such as Iceberg and Escarole. If you are in the mood for a more peppery flavour, rocket is perfect on pizzas.

To make a tasty salad all you need to do is throw in some lettuce leaves, some chunks of avocado, a few tomatoes, cucumber and carrot and you’re easily up to three portions.  Have a glass of orange juice and follow the meal with an apple or banana and hey presto, you’ve had your 5-a-day all in one sitting.

On top of that eating a rainbow of salad leaves and vegetables is good for us, as nutritionists say each colour provides a different range of nutrients. The darker leaves such as watercress and rocket are especially good for you.

Leafy salads provide vitamins and minerals important for growth and development. Even better news is that they can help protect against disease in later life. So help me make a salad and get chomping towards a healthy body today!
